 Hilde Buiter Animation Nieuwe Vide heeft ongeveer 25 studio's boven de expositie ruimte. Elke keer lichten wij een kunstenaar, animatie studio of muzikant uit. Deze keer aandacht voor Hilde Buiter.

Deze expositie gaat over video gaming en politiek.
Het project kijkt specifiek naar hoe de politieke realiteit in video games een plek kan krijgen. Alles is uiteindelijk politiek. Ook het persoonlijke.
In die zin dat we alle beslissingen die we nemen, alle acties die we ondernemen en alle conclusies die we trekken, baseren op onderliggende aannames, normen en waarden. En die normen, waarden en aannames worden over het algemeen niet door iedereen gedeeld. Ook de ruimte die we krijgen toebedeeld, als mens, komt voort uit opvattingen die haaks kunnen staan op opvattingen van het individu en de ander. Vaak hangt de keuze die iemand maakt, in zijn persoonlijke leven maar ook in groepsverband, in enige mate, samen met geld en macht en bestendiging van de eigen machts- en financiële positie. Kan politiek ook terugkomen in de wereld van populaire cultuur? Vanzelfsprekend. Als je het letterlijk neemt: denk aan protestmuziek, denk aan de vele politieke cartoons die de laatste jaren zoveel stof hebben doen opwaaien.
Nieuwe Vide verkent in de expositie 'Everything is Political. The Politics of Gaming' nu de relatie tussen video games, kunst en politiek.
Hoe kan de wereld van politiek een plek krijgen in games? Hoe verspreid je een boodschap via een populair medium als de video game? Dat is wat wij met dit project onderzoeken. Soms speelt de politiek in de werken op de achtergrond een rol, bijvoorbeeld als schets van de maatschappelijke situatie van een land. Soms is de politiek alom aanwezig. Soms wordt het lichaam in een rol gedwongen die niet prettig is en verdwijnt het in een groter systeem van macht, geweld en/of geld. Soms is het lichaam de weg kwijt en zucht het van wanhoop. Will love tear us apart? Will love tear me apart? Hoe houd ik me staande, hoe speel ik, hoe bespeel ik, hoe word ik bespeeld? Ben ik gevangen in een kooi van krachten of vrij om te doen wat ik zelf wil?
Aan de expositie doen kunstenaars en game ontwikkelaars mee. Voor het gemak hebben we ze allemaal bij naam genoemd. We maken dus geen onderscheid tussen de games die in de expositie zijn te zien, en de kunst, die menigmaal ook game is, en dus ook gespeeld kan worden. Als onderdeel van het project zal ook een political game jam plaatsvinden, in samenwerking met Mediacollege Amsterdam op 23 & 24 mei.

This exhibition is about video gaming and politics.
The project researches how this political reality can be included in video games. The games can be played in the exhibition.
In the end everything is political. Also the personal.
The decisions we make, all actions we take and the conclusions we make, we base on underlying assumptions and values. Those assumptions and values aren't shared by everybody. Also the space we get assigned as a human being, comes from our views, that can be contrary on the view of an individual and the other. Usually this choice that someone makes in his personal life, but also in a group situation is connected to money and power and the continuation of their own power- and financial position. Can politics come back in the world of popular culture? Of course. If you take it literally ; think about protest music, the political cartoons that got everybody's attention. Nieuwe Vide explores the relation between video games, art and politics in this exhibition. Can the world of politics get a place in games? How do you spread a message through a popular medium? Sometimes politics are in the background in the art pieces, as a sketch for a social situation in a country.
Sometimes the political statement is very present. Sometimes the body is forced in a unpleasant situation and disappears in a bigger system of power, violence and/or money. Sometimes the body loses its way in a sigh of despair Will love tear us apart? Wil love tear me apart? How do I keep myself standing, how do I play, how do I manipulate, hoe am I being played? Am I trapped in a cage of power or am I free to do what I want? In this exhibition artist and game developers show work. We all called them by name. We don't make a distinction between games in the exhibition, and the art, that most of the time are also games that can be played. As part of this project we will organise a political game jam in collaboration with Mediacollege Amsterdam on May 23 and 24th. Mediacollege Amsterdam is a MBO education with education for Design, Media, Technology, Games, events and film. More information about this project you can find on our website soon.
NIEUWE VIDE ACADEMY

Nieuwe Vide Academy, een traject voor jongeren, in de leeftijd van 14-19 jaar is begonnen.
Nieuwe Vide Academy is gestart en loopt tot en met juli 2017. In die periode komen de deelnemers twee keer in de week samen in/bij Nieuwe Vide; 1x op een doordeweekse dag (na schooltijd), en 1x in het weekend. We brengen ze in aanraking met cultuur en nemen je mee op sleeptouw, de culturele wereld in. Ze volgen workshops, bezoekt kunstenaars, musea en galeries, en gaan zelf creatief aan de slag. Alles kun je maken, van sculptuur tot documentaire en van schilderij tot tijdschrift. Je gebruikt wat je nodig hebt om uiting aan jouw ideeën te geven.
Vervolgens stellen deelnemers onder begeleiding van een professioneel beeldend kunstenaar een tentoonstelling / project samen in juli 2017, waarin zij bepalen wat daar te zien/te doen is. De kunstenaar die Nieuwe Vide Academy 2017 begeleidt is Geertje van de Kamp.

Nieuwe Vide Academy, a course for young people, in the age of 14-19 has started. Nieuwe Vide Academy started in March and will run until July 2017. In this period participants will come together twice a week in Nieuwe Vide. ; one during a weekday after school and one time during the weekend. We bring them closer to culture and take them on an adventure into this field. They take workshops, go on studio visits with artists and visit musea and gallery’s, but will also be creative themselves. In the end this will result in an exhibition at Nieuwe Vide July 2017 and an outside presentation. The artist that coaches Nieuwe Vide Academy is Geertje van de Kamp. Hilde Buiter
Sinds Hilde in 2012 afstudeerde aan de HKU, is ze werkzaam als zelfstandig 2D animator. Ze maakt animaties in opdracht voor o.a. films, bedrijven en televisie-omroepen/programma's Met behulp van een zelfgebouwde multiplane maakt ze analoge cut-out animaties. www.hildebuiter.nl English
Since Hilde graduated in 2012 at the HKU (Utrecht), she is active as an independend 2D animator. She makes animations for movies, companies and television (programmes). Besides that, she finds it very important to also make autonomous work, usually with analog techniques. Her work is known for it's great deal of color and handmade elements. With the help of a selfmade multiplane, Hilde makes analog cut-out animations.  Nieuwe Vide is supported by the Mondriaan Fund, Gemeente Haarlem and Imca Group.
