FREE INDIGENOUS SHORT FILM NIGHT
Manly, Warringah and
Pittwater’s Aboriginal Support Group will be hosting a free indigenous
short film night at the Nelson Heather Centre, North Narrabeen on
Monday 4 May at 7.30pm
The film night will be presented by Gillian Moody, who grew up in
Avalon and is a descendant of the Wadi-Wadi people of Jervis Bay.
Studying at the Australian Film Television and Radio School, Ms Moody
went on to spend 10 years in SBS’s Indigenous Media Unit working on
programs such as Living Black.
While at SBS, Gillian Moody worked on the program Corroboree 2000 – A
walk across the bridge. “I felt happy that this special day had come
for our country and that true acknowledgement was before us,” she said.
Ms Moody now helps to develop and support many talented Indigenous
filmmakers through her role with Screen Australia.
She will discuss her experiences from her works and will also present
some short indigenous films.
The event will be held in the Angophora Room of the Nelson Heather
Centre which is located on the corner of Jackson and Pittwater Roads.
