Happy Valentine's Day!
February 14th comes but one time a year...

Are you one who hates the added holiday? Thinks that it's another reason for Hallmark to create a card? Florists are in cahoots with the people who make chocolate to rob men (and women) of their hard earned dollar to buy that senseless gift? Or better yet, the jewelers are out to convince the men why they need to propose on that specific day or to buy their darling wife the diamond heart pendant to let them know of their undying love!

I hear the record player (yes, I said record player) as it comes to a screeching halt.

Of course not! We are the hopeless romantics. The ones who love the Happily Ever Afters! So men (and women) don't forget to make someone's day! Whether it's a significant other, a child, a parent, sister, brother or friend! Sometimes it's as simple as a box of chocolates. I know it is for me! Are you listening, dear husband? A nice red heart-shaped box with a dozen or so chocolates would make my day! It's the one day a year, ladies, we get to eat chocolate and not have to make excuses for it!

Give me the box!

One of my Valentine's gifts this year is a new book cover. It's always fun to see your work come to life in the form of a picture. this one screamed Sanitarium! I couldn’t have asked for a better match. Dara England created the wonderful cover for my re-release coming early this spring in Kindle, and yes, hopefully Nook as well, formats. For those who were hoping for paperback...sorry, guys. this release will strictly be eBook only.

The teaser this month, is an an excerpt from Sanitarium:

~“I ASSURE YOU I am in full capacity of my mind, Annie.” He ran a knuckle down her smooth cheek. “I’m not crazy. You may not believe me any more than anyone else in here. But I assure you, I’m quite sane.”

Her gaze narrowed as she ran the tip of her finger across his lower lip, pulling down on it slightly as if checking for the fangs that weren’t there. His concern for her luckily kept his blood lust in check, that and the six rats’ life fluid he had consumed. Although part of him wanted her to believe he was telling the truth, the other part couldn’t bear for her to see the animal in him.

He grasped a lose tendril of her hair and gently toyed with it. “You should always wear your hair like this. I like it.”

Her gaze changed vaguely, but enough he caught the slight. She desired him, even if she did fear him.

She grasped her hair, pulling the strand from his fingers and wound it in a loose knot at her nape, sticking a pencil in it to hold it in place for the moment. “It’s not very professional. I haven’t had the time to twist it up. As soon as I got here, I had to deal with the detective.”

Jake reached behind her head and pulled the pencil free and allowed it to drop to the floor. It clicked off the tiled surface and rolled to a stop. Her hair cascaded over his fingers in silky waves as she stared at him like doe caught in headlights. Anchoring her head, he brought her face closer to hers. Her gaze dropped to his lips.

It was all the invitation Jake needed as he pressed his lips against hers, meant to touch, to taste. Her answering moan drove him into further action as he used his tongue to test the firm supple line, which parted easily. He slipped his tongue inside and tempted hers to spar. Pulling her to her feet with him, he held her firmly within his grasp, anchoring her body to his.

Authors I like to recommend... This month's author is Tammie Clark Gibbs. I had the extreme pleasure of reading her first timetravel romance. Tammie writes from the heart and Shane and Lila will capture yours...

Several years ago, Tammie compiled an interesting cookbook called "Recipes For Romance From the Leading Ladies and Gentlemen of Romance", it had contributions from over sixty published romance authors, of which I was included.  When that book launched at the 2001 Romantic Times Booklovers Convention in Orlando, Florida she had the most lovely time visiting with the authors and discussing their various journey's to publication.

For her the journey has been a long one, but nonetheless full of experiences and people who've not only helped her discover her own voice, but grow as a person as well.  From the teacher who read her first short story and told her she'd found what she should do with her life, to former Warner Books publisher Nanscy Neiman who just happened to end up with her manuscript as part of the Inside Sessions program and encouraged her to finish the book and then continued to love it when she did...The people have made her journey.
