You Say Tomato and
I Say To-mah-to
Either way, it’s big savings here at SLO Natural Foods. One of our local farmers has a surplus of tomatoes so we are able to pass the savings on to you when you buy in bulk. Order a 20 lb. case of heirloom or slicing tomatoes for only $20. Call or email our produce buyer Lonnan by 2pm on Tues for a Thurs arrival here at the Co-op.
This offer is good only while supplies last.

Product Updates at SLO Natural Foods
Raymond has some new items in Grocery this month starting with a vegan honey substitute. Bee Free Honee is a liquid sweetener made from certified organic apples, all USA-grown in Michigan. It can be substituted for honey 1:1 in recipes. We also now have Cook’s Organic Bourbon Vanilla, both as an extract and as a powder.  Cook’s is a local company right here in Paso Robles with a 100 year history in sourcing the best vanilla in the world. Also, for kicking off this season’s holiday baking, Raymond has brought in Color Garden Food Coloring. These are pure plant-based food colors which are non-GMO, allergy-free, vegan, and gluten-free.
In Chill, Jennie has brought in some wild local fish. South Bay Wild in Morro Bay is committed to sustainable fishing and we now have their Petrale Sole, Lingcod, Rockfish, and Blackcod in the freezer here at SLO Natural Foods. Another new vendor is Outer Aisle from Santa Barbara. Their tasty bread substitutes are made with cauliflower. You’ll find both the Veggie Sandwich Thins and the Veggie Pizza Crust in our Grab & Go refrigerator in the Produce department.
Jessica has some new products and some smokin’ deals in Wellness this month! Jeffrey James Botanicals is a skincare line made from organic botanicals that is good for all types of skin. We carry The Wash, The Toner, The Glow, The Creme, The Exfoliant, and The Mask. Jessica is enthusiastic about the whole line but especially likes The Toner, which contains both MSM and colloidal silver. This October Jessica is offering a great sale on Garden of Life Raw Protein and Multivitamins for Men and Women. All are organic, non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free. The Raw Protein is available in four flavors: Vanilla, Vanilla Chai, Chocolate, and Plain. Garden of Life is always 20% off suggested retail at SLO Natural Foods but in October you will save an additional 10% for a total savings of 30% off retail!

More changes are afoot at SLO Natural Foods. Many of you have seen the long-awaited doorway between the Bulk Herbs and Wellness departments. It’s resulted in a bit of shuffling in the layout of both departments so if you have trouble finding anything, please let us know. It’s already been a great improvement by opening up the Wellness department and allowing staff to better serve customers.
We’ve also changed how bulk liquids are being sold. In the past, we priced them by the fluid ounce but from now on we will be selling them by weight, as we do with the other bulk items. So we no longer need to know the capacity of your containers, but rather the tare weight before you fill them. There is a scale, stickers, and pens next to the coffee grinder in the Bulk department for weighing and labeling. If you’ve any questions about this, we’re happy to help.
Jessica and the new entry into the Wellness Dept!

Big Win for Bees!

The Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco ruled that federal regulators erred when they approved an insecticide developed by Dow. Many organizations filed a lawsuit in 2013 against the EPA after it approved the use of the chemical sulfoxaflor, a neonicotinoid.
