Exodus 17:10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill.
A JOSHUA-HELPER
Perhaps your mailbox is afflicted with the same disease as mine. At least once a week it seems to be full of requests to support various organizations. First it's the police department needing my help, then the fire department, then this or that society. Once in awhile I do support certain charities, but not every time they ask. You see, someone else asks for my time, energy, and talents too. And the LORD God comes before the solicitations in my mailbox!
With all the demands placed upon us in this hectic world, do we always remember to support the work of the LORD the way we could? Or is it like the crowded mailbox? When God asks something from us, do we think, "I just can't be bothered with that right now."?
To Joshua, God's work came first. When He was asked to go to the front lines of battle for the LORD, He went. He served by becoming involved in the hand-to-hand combat, being the "boots on the ground" in the operation against the Amalekites.
God needs Joshuas today too. He sends us to the front lines. Not armed with spears, but with the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. We are the "boots on the ground" whom the LORD calls to fight against the devil. Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and His cross in our day to day operations, we uplift others with the bright hope of forgiveness and peace, dealing a death-blow to the enemy.
