MARC BAMUTHI JOSEPH/THE LIVING WORD PROJECT
the break/s: a mixtape for the stage
Wednesday, October 28 & Thursday, October 29, 8PM - TICKETS: $22.50-$28

This is a multimedia excursion through the land of hip-hop poet Marc Bamuthi Joseph as your guide. A favorite performer on HBO's Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry," Bamuthi combines movement, spoken word and personal storytelling to deliver a living history of the hip-hop generation.

Video projections of hip-hop culture worldwide intensify the poet's exchanges with turntablist DJ Excess, and beatboxer/percussionsist Tommy Shepherd, aka Soulali, Bamuthi draws inspiration for the breaks from Jeff Chang's award-winning book, Can't Stop Won't Stop, which captures the birth of hip-hop as a generation's longing to make culture that impacts the world.
