Dear friends,

Below and attached is an announcement for the upcoming Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW), 5-11 March 2011.

IAW is one of the most popular and significant public initiatives challenging Israeli Apartheid. It offers ordinary people around the world an opportunity to be part of something that is truly global, and powerful. It also allows us, as South Africans who benefited so much from similar actions and initiatives during the 80s and 90s, to express solidarity in the way that we received.

We urge you to seriously consider getting involved in this important initiative.

>>> 8TH INTERNATIONAL ISRAELI APARTHEID WEEK <<<
(5th-11th March 2012)

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is an annual international series of events (including rallies, lectures, cultural performances, film screenings and multimedia displays) held -by ordinary people- in cities and campuses across the globe.

IAW seeks to raise awareness about Israel's apartheid policies towards the Palestinians and to mobilize support for the growing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

Last year IAW was incredibly successful with over 90 cities worldwide, and 9 universities in South Africa, participating in the week’s events.

GETTING INVOLVED IN IAW 2012
This year IAW is scheduled to take place in South Africa between the 5th and 11th of March - we are counting on you to make this year even stronger!

If you would like to organize an event as part of IAW, then please let us know so that we can share with you the points of unity, add your event to the international website as well as refer people to you if they wish to get involved at your campus or in your city.

If you would like more information on IAW, a list of previous events, some ideas on what to host or would like to know if something is already planned at your campus/city then drop us a note at iawsouthafrica@apartheidweek.org or visit our website www.apartheidweek.org
