Hello Firstname
I am off on a fortnight's holiday this weekend, so this edition has to cover for 3 issues and includes the meetings on 11, 18 and 25 September.
On Wednesday 11 September our speaker will be Dianne Owen FRPS, who will be presenting her talk called Hidden Images. Dianne describes her talk as follows:
My talk is mainly focused on Creative Photography achieved by adding photographic textures and brushes to images in Photoshop. The prints cover a wide range of subjects. ranging from Still life, landscape to Digital Art. l usually work in sets of three or more for each subject. creating small panels of images using similar techniques and textures.
This allows each set to be different and have its own-emotional impact, The prints do have titles, but I feel it's important for the viewer to consider the meaning and personal titles themselves, as we read them, to images with our own personal experiences. During the talk I pass prints round for the members to see the close-up print. Holding a print changes the perspective of your thoughts on an image and allows you to see the smallest of detail including the print quality created by the Hahnemuhle Fine Art papers.
I encourage the members to ask questions about the prints during the talk, but it is not a technical talk or workshop, but I do give hints and tips during the talk.

Just a reminder that all BPS members are invited to the DI meeting on Monday, 9 September. As usual please bring along any presentations, either as prints or digital files for projection (in jpg format, sRGB colour space and in a folder or your name). You are also welcome to raise any questions about any issues you may have with your images for advice from your fellow members. Following the creative workshops last April, we had a practical studio session in August. I am hoping to organise more practical sessions subject to the level of interest. I am happy to listen to any suggestions from members.

In 1803, Humphry Davy and Thomas Wedgewood met in Dowry Square in Hotwells and created the world’s first photographic process 35 years before France claimed the invention. This is a drop-in event with free, hands on, experiments and demonstrations of early photographic processes to discover how experimentation in Bristol and the surrounding area led to the discovery of photography.

The RPS Western Region will be holding a meeting at Unit 13 which is open to all.
David Bathard FRPS will run a workshop at BPS Unit 13 on 8 Sept, 2.00 – 4.30:
How I approach panel making. I hope to give members inspiration for panels from my experience. Many people find that the jump from LRPS to ARPS and beyond so difficult as they often have little idea of how to proceed. I will have a number of print panels to show and would like members in the second half to bring and show any project that they have. I will not be judging anyone but would give them encouragement to find their route to a distinction and use the advisory days.
