We're invading Chicago! Starting in early 2010, Kicksville will be performing a special series of multimedia events in conjunction with Zombie Army Productions, the folks behind the Statesville Haunted Prison and The Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier. Enter the Flavor Hut: LIVE is the story of Johnny, a good kid led down the Path to Ruin by Bob (The Pusher) and Candy (The Evil Temptress). Along the way, Johnny meets a sordid cast of characters, including The Mayor, Luna (the Innocent), Piggy (the Not-So-Innocent), and a cranky armchair revolutionary called The Brick. With lots of black humor, flaming pinko political satire and a thinly veiled one-finger salute to the music industry, Enter the Flavor Hut: LIVE is definitely not your typical night at the theater ;-)

 

The first date, Jan. 22, is at The Viaduct Theatre - a very cool, vibey theater space in the Roscoe Village neighborhood (with free parking, BTW). Special guests include Malian ngoni virtuoso Tani Diakite, master percussionist David Henzie-Skogen (Cougar, Youngblood Brass Band), and zombies galore! It's a continuous multimedia experience: as soon as you walk in the door you're in Kicksville, with music, video, art exhibits by Andy Ewen and resident artist Tone Deaf, and more. Even better, if you come in zombie attire, you'll get a free copy of the two-CD set, Enter the Flavor Hut: Re-mastered+. We're telling you now: this show is going to be off the hook - we expect it to sell out fast since the Viaduct is a relatively small theater, so don't wait to pick up your tickets!

 

...just be careful around the zombies - we'll feed 'em beforehand, but you never know....

To celebrate the opening of our Chicago run, we will be releasing a special two-disc version of our debut album, Enter the Flavor Hut. Since these upcoming shows are our first expedition to the The Windy City, we thought it would be a good way to introduce Chicago to the story of Bob, Candy, and Johnny.

Disc 1 contains the original tracks, lovingly re-mastered by Jay Frigoletto at MASTERsuite. Disc 2 contains live versions of the songs, plus a couple of bonus live tracks not on Enter the Flavor Hut or available anywhere else. We will not be releasing this digitally - it will only be for sale at the Chicago-area performances!

Yeah, yeah.... We know we promised a new series of singles would start in January, but with all the work going into bringing Enter the Flavor Hut: LIVE to Chicago, we've gotten a little behind schedule.... So, The Singles - Season 3 will start (for sure this time) on March 8, with an official kick-off party March 13 at The Kinetic Playground. Also, to make up for the delay, in early January we'll release a couple of tracks as FREE downloads exclusively for all you fine folks on this e-mail list. Stay tuned!
