"Kat Bytes"
the monthly newsletter of StudioKat Designs
Issue #173  December 2019

Hello & Welcome!
This is a special edition of "Kat Bytes". You may have noticed that this month's issue of Kat Bytes is coming to you quite early this month! Here's why---
1- I had total knee replacement surgery just b4 Thanksgiving and have plenty of time to sit in a chair and write this newsletter.
2- My FaceBook Account was hijacked by some lowlife and as a result, I'm in "FaceBook Jail", in other words, my accounts have been disabled & I cannot post in the normal way.
3- We're running a really good Christmas Advent Sale right now and I hate for you to miss out on so much of it!
So...with all of this in mind, this month's issue of "Kat Bytes" is going to be just a bit different!
Let's get started so I can tell you more!

A word about our FaceBook problem
In a year of unprecedented problems with our website and payment platforms, we are now facing a serious issue with our FaceBook accounts. On Nov 22nd I was abruptly locked -out of my personal FaceBook acct, which meant I could no longer gain access to my FaceBook Business page. Many of you noted about this time that some wierd woman masquerading as "Pansy Piano Journey started posted LOTS of wierd things on my Business page. From what I hear, this in fact may have been the issue that triggered my account being disabled, although FaceBook isn't saying. But more about that later.
At this point I can still access my Private Group page, StudioKatDesigns Sewing Patterns, but only because I let my Mom be a member and I'm using her account so I can communicate with the other members, and keep an eye on what's going on out there. I have no "back-door" access which means I cannot accept new members, nor can I post as STudioKat Designs. It's all SO discouraging especially since we have worked for YEARS to build the following that we now enjoy!
Will FaceBook reinstate us? That's the 25 million dollar question. So far, the answer is no, and from what I understand, there is no guarantee I'll ever gain access again which would be heartbreaking. In the meantime, there are some things you need to know.
1- The ways in which I can communicate with you about new blog posts & products as well as sales & the like are greatly diminished. We still have a presence out on Instagram and if you'd like you can stay up-to-date with us there by following us here.
2- If by the end of the month FaceBook hasnt reinstated us, I'll probably start over again with a new FaceBook Business page and a new private Group. I will of course notify you if this is the case and my hope is that many of you will join us there.
3- If you feel so incllined to let FaceBook know that you think we should be reinstated, we would LOVE it if you wrote to them and told them so. There is strength in numbers! To do so;
  • click on the Question mark in the upper right corner of your FaceBook page
  • now click on "Report a Problem".
  • then click on "Something isn't working"
  • and finally, click on "Pages"
From here you could kindly tell them that you miss seeing posts from the StudioKat Designs page and you've heard it is because the business owner, Kathy Southern, has been locked out of her account quite wrongly. If you'd include our business phone number, 1/336/416-1799 so they can properly identify me, it would be helpful.
It should be said that of course I don't want you to feel obligated to do this. I'll keep you informed in the January Newsletter (or hopefully before that if I gain access to my accounts before then)!
And now.... on to the News!

The StudioKat Designs Advent Calendar Sale
This year we're trying something new for the holiday sale season. We're having an old-fashioned Advent Calendar sale!
That means that everyday (for 24 days) we'll be offering at least two of our products for sale at a 15% discount. You dont have to buy both items but you can buy as many of either or both as you like!
And since were STILL locked out of our FaceBook page, I knew many of you would never be aware of our sale unless we posted it here. So... check out the schedule so you'll be ready to "pull the trigger" on the particular day of your interest. The discount code you'll need to use for each day is listed below, and if you have any question, please feel free to eamil me at info @studiokatdesigns.com.
And remember, if you plan to order other items this month, & would like for us to roll your orders into one shipment, I will refund the excess shipping charges & send all of your items together in one shipment after Christmas, HOWEVER, you must include a message requesting us to do this for this order AND every subsequent order you place during the sale this month!

December 2019 "Eye Candy"
The bags you see below are among those that customers have shared recently on either our FaceBook business page, our Instagram feed or on our Group page on FaceBook. So thanks to EVERYONE! They were ALL great but here's a few of my favorites!

Dawn Eratt thinks that she is slightly addicted to SKD designs PLUS she made a flat-top cap in mustard wool to match this gorgeous Sling Along!

Here's another impressive Bellagio Bag by Celia Ann Oliver. She fashioned this one in Harris Tweed, with a cork flap and a Japanese silk interior!

I first spied Diane Bortz‘ caffeine-inspired Triple Play on Instagram and totally fell in love with it!

Jolinda Pfeiffer has named this bag “Not Your Momma’s Quattro” which seems appropriate with the zombie-exterior! Her matching accessories are adorable too!
And based on her experience with this particular bag, Sonja Davison has declared the Sling Along design to be one of her all-time favorite patterns! She LOVES it (and so do I!)

Debbie Harris is back with another beautiful Go-Go Compact . This one is a gift for a friend in Michigan.

With her new Go-Go Compact at the ready, Georgia Segura said she was ready for “hands-free” shopping at the International Quilt Festival!

Kathy Micucci said that her new Odyssey was nice & lightweight but holds everything she needs for a Fall hike.
Here’s Lisa Smith‘s 1st Everyday Attache. I can just imagine that she is really enjoying the organization that this bag gives her!

And finally, Sandra Kugyelka said that her Everyday Attache was great fun to make, she enjoyed every step of the process and loved the detailed instructions!
