JANUARY SUBSCRIBER EXTRA - Audio of Wade's last appearance on Opry Country Classic

This is the only place this link will be posted.
Wade was on this show at the beginning, in the middle and near the end. He opened with "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" and "She's Actin' Single." Johnny Lee was another guest artist. He gave Wade his first music job in Nashville. Wade came back on stage after Johnny finished "Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places," to pic with him and sing high harmony. Johnny joked with Wade. Wade returned to later to sing "That's the Way Love Goes." At the end of the song, he confessed that he'd had a crush on one of the onstage Opry performers since he first played the Opry.

Pictures have been added for West Branch, MI; Puckett's in Nashville; the New Kickers in Oak Grove, KY; Cancun.

The Kickers picture page has a 30 second movie of Wade good-naturedly posing on their mechanical bull. You will want to lower the volume - it's mostly static and women hollering (imagine that!).

Also, there's a download feature at this site for the pics. When you're on a page, you can choose to see the slide show, or if you click on a pic, it enlarges that pic and the download command becomes available. That opens the pic in a page by itself. You can right-click to see what your options are - there should be a copy command available.

SHOW NOTES

Two different venues asked Wade to perform for their grand openings. He, Leslie Satcher and Megan Mullins kicked off the New Puckett's in downtown Nashville. These 3 had a great chemistry on stage. The show stopper was a Megan/Wade duet on a new song they'd written, "What You Need From Me." I'm eager to hear a release on that one. Puckett's always hosts great writer's nights. The new store is in a great location, valet parking is handy and so is their valet parking or parking lots nearby.

The New Kickers in Oak Grove, KY replaced the Clarksville, TN one that was destroyed by the May floods. It's still adjacent to Fort Campbell, the home of the 101st Airborne. A packed house of mostly military - soldiers or spouses of soldiers on deployment - was very receptive to Wade and the band. They have a good dance floor surrounded by tables. There's also a sports bar down the hall with 4 large flat-panel tvs. Check out the pics on woww-pics.com - included is a 30 second movie of Wade posing on the mechanical bull.

The band included Randy Lanham on fiddle; Kevin Smith on drums; Phillip Pence on bass and Kevin Rae on lead guitar. It's an outstanding band. Always good to hear Randy break loose on that fiddle and challenge the band to keep pace with him. Most of the set list was songs that Wade had recorded. He did excellent covers of Wilie's "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground;" Merle's "I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink," "Make Up and Faded Blue Jeans;" and Glen Campbell's "Wichita Lineman."  No one covers "Wichita" better than Wade. I've heard musicians compliment him on it.

Gorgeous weather at the Beach Palace in Cancun. The first night of music featured Trent Willmon, Joanna Smith and Wade. It was too windy to do the show on the roof-top, so we went into the ballroom. Outdoors on the second night - with a beautiful ocean backdrop and a cook-out for everyone. A beach sculpture contest was held on Saturday. Each artist had a team of friends to help them. Saturday evening's show featured Laura Bell Bundy. Wade along with other songwriters opened the evening with a couple of songs each. That show closed out with Storme Warren of GAC TV leading the artists and some of the crowd in developing their own "12 Days of Christmas" song. Lots of laughs. Besides the evening's musical events, travelers found lots to do during the day - spa activities, beach enjoyment, swimming with the dolphins, exploring Mexican ruins, riding the adventure zip line ...
