Colossians 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

LIVE WITH ONE EYE ON HEAVEN

The last Sundays of the church year are winding down swiftly to their close. It's the time when we Christians focus our attention on the fulfillment of the glorious promise Jesus has given to each of us: "Behold, I am coming soon!" During these Sundays we are reminded of the words of heavenly counsel the Savior has provided in His Word. There He teaches us to live in a state of continual readiness for His return, in daily repentance, with our lamp of faith burning bright, with hearts fixed on things above where He is seated at God’s right hand, where we will also be.

We can't be reminded of this too often for it is easy to forget (living as we are in a godless world that thinks life in this world is all there is). Let us pray that the Lord enable us to keep before our mind's eye the glorious Bible truth: As a Christian I am a person who holds dual citizenship. I am a citizen of this world. I have a life to live here which my Lord has given me. I have responsibilities He has called me faithfully to fulfill (as a parent, child, student, employer, employee, church member, etc.). Yet I know all these things which have to do with life on planet earth are temporary. Most important of all, I am a citizen of heaven through faith in my Savior Jesus and I look forward to the Day when He'll keep His promise to come to this world a second time to escort me and all who long for His appearing into our real, our permanent, home.
