The Goose Is Out!

Hi Goose People!

We are pleased to say that the ring we found after the Martin Simpson gig has been returned to its owner - the wonders of the internet, eh.

Thanks to everybody who filled in the survey about The Ivy House - fingers crossed there will be some good news soon .........

Thanks also to those who expressed an interest in our "Rusty Instrument" evenings - there's still time if you haven't! We'll be contacting everybody interested before the Autumn to let them know what's happening.

Three great Goose nights coming up in June, plus the Singaround - then a bit of a break, phew!

Crownstreet - TOMORROW Friday 8 June - Upstairs At The Mag

If you were at the excellent Dick Gaughan gig last year, you may remember Crownstreet, who were one of the support acts. They were so good, we asked them back to headline Upstairs at The Mag.

Crownstreet are four musicians who play sixteen different instruments between them, including musical saw, cittern and bagpipes!

Their musical skills are ace (their navigational skills a bit less so - got a SatNav yet, people?! We had to talk them into DHFC from somewhere on the far side of Dulwich Village last time Laughing )

Tickets on the door only, £6. Door 7.45pm, live music starts 8pm.

Floorsingers welcome, just put your name down on the list at the door when you arrive (please don't confuse the floorsingers' list with the email list or you may not get a spot!).

FREE Singaround - THIS SUNDAY  10 June - Upstairs At The Mag

And on Sunday it's Singaround time again - crikey they come round quickly.

Everybody is welcome, whether to sing or to listen - and it's FREE!

Starts 7.30pm, finishes whenever (but as it's a Sunday,  the bar closes a bit earlier than usual).

If you'd like to sing, just put your name down on the list at any point during the evening - we sing in the list order, then start again (if there's time!). If you wouldn't like to sing, we hope you'll at least join in the choruses!

You can sing whatever you like, but songs with choruses are particularly welcome. They don't have to be folk songs, and they can be of any country or culture -  most people do sing folk-influenced songs, but it's not compulsory!

Please note that our Singarounds will be continuing during July and August even though we don't have any ticketed gigs during those months.

There's still time to suggest songs to include in our forthcoming Goose Singaround Collection, so do send us some! They don't have to be folk as long as people can join in or they have a chorus (you can sing anything you like at the Singaround, with a chorus or not, but the songs we'll be including for this purpose will purely be songs everybody can participate in).

Extra Special Goose Night! Tandem, Joseph Topping and many more brilliant artists! Saturday 16 June - DHFC

On Saturday 16 June we are delighted to be hosting an extra special night at DHFC (moved from The Ivy House, R.I.P.)

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SATURDAY!!!

There will be ELEVEN people altogether, all of whom we think are excellent but we haven't (yet) been able to fit them into other Goose gigs, though we hope to do so in the future.

Appearing tonight will be:

Tandem, Joseph Topping, James McDonald, Esbjorn Wettermark, Carmel, David, Salwa Azar, Ian, Sarah, and Ben Holland.

We've tried to include a mix of different things, from unaccompanied traditional folk,  through Dylan covers/singer songwriter, via Scandinavian folk, to brilliant person with ukulele (that's you, Salwa!) plus excellent instrumentals from Tandem.

Some of them you may have seen sing at Goose Singarounds or as floorspots, others you may know from elsewhere as they haven't appeared at the Goose before. Some of them sent us demo CDs which bowled us over.

In order to fit everybody in, we have an EARLIER START THAN USUAL AT 7PM. DOORS WILL OPEN AT 6.30PM. Please click on the link above to see the running order and times.

Don't miss this, it  will be a fantastic night, and it's ONLY A FIVER ON THE DOOR! Must be one of the best bargains of the year!!

Frankie Armstrong, Lizzie Nunnery - Friday 29 June - Upstairs At The Mag

We are really delighted to be welcoming Frankie Armstrong to the Goose for the first time, and equally delighted that Lizzie Nunnery will be supporting her tonight.

This is a one-off evening which is replacing what would have been our last concert at DHFC before the Summer break, and will differ from our normal Mag nights as the floorsingers will be people who are attending  Frankie's singing workshop in Croydon on the same weekend.

WE RECOMMEND YOU ARRIVE EARLY FOR THIS ONE AS IS IT LIKELY TO SELL OUT.

I haven't got all the information onto the Goose website yet, blush, but I'm sure most people will know who Frankie is and why this will be a really special night!

Tickets on the door only, £6.

Door 7.45pm, live music starts 8pm.

Coming Up in September .....

OK it seems a long way off, but things to look forward to we hope!

On Saturday 1 September we again have an indoor folk music stage at the Aquarius Festival, and the line-up is now confirmed:

I haven't got details of the artists up on the Goose website yet, but will do soon, with more details of timing etc..

There will also be an outdoor music stage, plus of course food, drink, stalls and things to do for all the family. This is a local community festival and entry is only £1!

More details soon - meantime, put the date in your diaries!

THE ASKEW SISTERS - FRIDAY 14 SEPTEMBER - UPSTAIRS AT THE MAG

We had to turn people away  last time the Askews were at the Goose, as we couldn't squeeze any more in, so get there early! We'll arrange the room as best we can to get the maximum people in.

Tickets £6, on the door only. More details soon.

DICK GAUGHAN, PHILIP HENRY & HANNAH MARTIN, JACK HARRIS - FRIDAY 28 SEPTEMBER - DHFC

What can we say? Another fantastic night in store with Dick, plus absolutely excellent support artists (Yes - Jack Harris is Harry Harris's brother! And of course vice versa..... )

Advance tickets £11/7 - not many advance concessions left online, so be quick if you want one!

OK That's All For Now!

We hope to see you soon!

Love Nyge and Sue aka The Goose xxx

PS Thanks to those who kindly let me know of my mistakes in dates, ticket prices etc in previous newsletters  - hopefully there won't be any this time! Now that's probably tempting fate .......
