Last issue, in the Smile section, I quoted a trivia bit from
another web site that said the Chinese zodiac does not mention
cats. Well, thanks to Karen, we are reminded that the Chinese
zodiac does, indeed, have a cat... a TIGER! How could anyone
overlook a cat that big?

Don't forget to take the usual precautions with Halloween just
around the corner. While rumors are overblown of cats being tortured
or becoming the victims of Satanic sacrifice, it's still wise to keep
them indoors for the few days before and after trick or treat night.
Of course, indoors all the time is best, but if your cat (any color)
is indoor-outdoor, please keep an eye on them at this time.
There are a lot of people out, and the risk of getting hit by a car,
for example, is greater than usual.
Also, once back home, don't let your pets eat any candy. It's
not their natural food anyway, but chocolate is especially toxic
(more to dogs than cats), but artificial sweeteners are even more
so and can cause death, especially in cats.

This time, the ingredient missing is taurine... an essential amino
acid for cats. Without it, they will develop neurological problems,
such as wobbly walking, weakness, abnormal eye movement, and
