Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe

The results of the 2-year project "Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe" (CHCFE) were presented to the public on 12/06 at the Europa Nostra Congress in Oslo. This event was attended by high representatives of European policy circles: European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, Norwegian Secretary of State for European Affairs Invild Stub and Vice-President of the Walloon Government, Maxime Prévot.

The CHCFE key findings will be further discussed at the European Parliament on 16/09, and the CHCFE Book will be presented to the public on 22/10 at a networking evening kindly hosted by Bertelsmann. Read Now

Workshop for young crafters from Europe

48 young crafters from 21 countries throughout Europe attended the workshop on Norwegian wood craftsmanship, run by Fortidsminneforeningen with Europa Nostra, from 7-14 June in Oslo.

Highlights

World Heritage Committee session in Bonn

The 39th session of the World Heritage Committee was held on 29/06 – 5/07 in Bonn (Germany). This intergovernmental meeting was also attended by a large number of observers representing public and private bodies concerned. On 29/06, a high delegation of Europa Nostra was received by Irina Bokova, DG of UNESCO. The WHC meeting was preceded by an NGO Forum organised by the German-based NGO "World Heritage Watch". Jordi Savall wins Helena Vaz da Silva European Award 2015

The world-renowned musician and conductor Jordi Savall from Spain is this year's winner of the Helena Vaz da Silva European Award for Raising Public Awareness on Cultural Heritage. The Jury also gave Special Mentions to the Danish radio/TV journalist Adrian Lloyd Hughes and to the Spanish cultural journalist Rafael Fraguas. The award-giving ceremony will be held on 12 October at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. Read more

The 7 Most Endangered 2013: Monastery in Setubal reopens

With the aim to strengthen the capacity of its Member Organisations, Europa Nostra organised an intense three-day programme in Brussels on 15-17 April 2015. Chief Executive Officers of heritage NGOs from 13 European countries - Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Spain and the United Kingdom - participated in the first edition of the Capacity Building Days. The 7 Most Endangered 2014: technical reports published

Europa Nostra and the European Investment Bank Institute made public at the beginning of this month the technical and financial reports for the rehabilitation of the Citadel of Alessandria in Italy, the neighbourhoods of Dolcho and Apozari in Kastoria in Greece and the historic stage machinery of the Bourla theatre in Antwerp in Belgium, listed among 'The 7 Most Endangered' heritage sites in Europe in 2014.
