Ephesians 6:10-11 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

THE GENERAL

In military history, battles have been won and lost on surprising turns of events. When the British had the American troops on the run during one particular battle in 1776, a heavy fog rolled in one morning allowing the retreating soldiers to escape without being seen. Sometimes it can be one simple order from a general--one small movement this way or that--which will change the tide of a battle and of history.

The Christian life is described as a battle in Ephesians chapter six. We would do well to understand that struggle so that a movement in the wrong direction does not lead us away from the victory which has been promised to us.

Our struggle is against the devil, and he is a vicious opponent. We must understand that reality so we are not deceived. Our victory is through Christ Jesus, and we trust Him--for He is the General who has turned the tide of the battle!

I walk with Jesus all the way,
His guidance never fails me;
Within His wounds I find a stay
When Satan's power assails me;
And by His footsteps led,
My path I safely tread.
In spite of ills that threaten may,
I walk with Jesus all the way.
