John 14:2 Let not your heart be troubled ... In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

THE CURE FOR THE TROUBLED HEART

It seems these days that half the battle in medicine is diagnosis. If the doctor cannot figure out exactly what is wrong with a patient, then he can't very well start on a cure. There are times that we will get down, worry, and our souls will become agitated. Jesus comes with the cure because He knows the cause. He makes the correct diagnosis. He knows our fears and concerns, and gives us the exact words that we need. Even if currently you do not have a troubled heart, these words of our Savior will be preemptive medicine.

"Let not your heart be troubled ... In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2). You may also have heard this translated: "In My Father's house are many rooms." The idea in the word is that you have a place to live in heaven. Reserved for you in the Father's house is your own space to live forever.

The reason that you're uncomfortable now is that you are not home. When you have difficulties, the purpose that Jesus has is not that your heart would be troubled, but that you would look forward to your real home. We understand when we have radiation or chemotherapy or a joint replaced that there is the goal in mind of a better future. So also when you have discomfort here on this earth, the Lord wants you to remember your real home in heaven. Don't let your heart be troubled. Realize that Jesus is preparing a place in heaven for you.
