AFFA MOVIE NIGHT: MAKE

The documentary MAKE, by Scott Ogden and Malcolm Hearn, is an intimate journey into the lives of four American self-taught artists: Prophet Royal Robertson, Hawkins Bolden, Judith Scott and Ike Morgan. All of these artists find their most powerful voice through art. The film interweaves stories of individuals whose worlds are as unique as their creations and explores why each of them is consumed by obsessive art making. Light refreshments to go with the movie!

AFFA gave Esquina Tango a $1,000 grant this year to kick-start its free summer dance program for youth. Let's go see what the young people have been learning! These are the same wonderful, high-spirited folks who entertained us and taught us tango at our membership party in February 2010.

After several delays - including a five day strike at Indira Gandhi airport in New Delhi, volcanic ash over Iceland and snags with U.S. Customs at Dallas - Marigold's new shipment has finally made its way to Austin! Spring into summer with Marigold's newest light-weight fibers for men, women and children. They also have exciting new items for the home, gifts and accessories.

Also, The Toltec Center of Creative Intent, in its new home at Marigold, is offering free community events! First Thursday of each month at 7 PM is the Austin Toltec MeetUp with HeatherAsh Amara. Second Sunday of each month at 7 PM is Chant! with Laura Toups. The
Third Friday of each month at 7 PM is a Healing circle. The Fourth Friday of each month at 7 PM is Toltec Church with HeatherAsh Amara.

On Sunday, June 20, at 1 PM is the Open House & Summer Solstice Ceremony With HeatherAsh Amara and the Toltec Teachers Circle. From 1:00-3:00 PM are Free Toltec Tarot readings, healings, Reiki, music, snacks, and more! At 3:00 PM is the Summer Solstice Ceremony with everyone who wants to join in followed by a potluck; bring your favorite dish to share. All are invited...bring friends! Free!

MEXIC-ARTE MUESUM PRESENTS NEW EXHIBITION RUBEN HERRERA:
MASTER ARTIST AND TEACHER 1888-1933

Rubén Herrera was a significant artist and teacher, having founded the Painting Academy of Saltillo, which created a new generation of painters in Northern Mexico in the early 20th century. The exhibition, featuring 10 works of art, will premiere for the first time in the United States and is part of Mexic-Arte Museum’s year-long 2010 programming to commemorate the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution and the Bicentennial of the Mexican Independence.

The exhibition will include a special section on the Herrera Family in Austin, Texas, highlighting Rubén Herrera’s significant family lineage in this city.  For more information call (512) 480-9373 or visit www.mexic-artemuseum.org. We offer four annual quality antique shows - the world renowned Spring and Fall Antiques Fairs and now the Winter and Summer Antiques Shows. LAS RANCHERITAS
RUG HOOKING KNOWS NO BORDERS: HOOKING TOUR

Come meet the Rancheritas and have a wonderfully cool (temperature wise) vacation. At 6,500 ft. above sea level, San Miguel de Allende is wonderfully comfortable in August.  Join Las Rancheritas for a week to play and work with the rug hookers from  the town of Agustin Gonzales.
