In a continuing effort to explore all corners of the musical ether, Aleksander Vinter, aka Savant, has set his sights on the rhythms of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa under his new persona Blanco. As Savant, he has taken on everything from video game soundtracks to the music of the Middle East, but today he is dropping Blanco’s debut ‘Bajo’ EP, which, in the words of Vice Thump, “will make you move your culo.”
To get a fresh perspective on the various styles he wanted to incorporate, Aleksander enlisted the help of several vocalists who are deeply entrenched in music scenes from around the world. On the track “Carpe Diem,” Jamaican reggae singer Turbulence contributed fast-paced lyricism, and the insatiable Latin urban/electro song “Camarilla” features Puerto Rican superstar Dyland (of Dyland & Lenny). The most recent single “Bailamos” features dancehall-style vocals from Eben Jr., who has roots in both Sierra Leone and Liberia. The EP also has a few fiery instrumental cuts and a vocal feature from Scandinavian rapper SVNR.
Having released twelve extremely diverse albums in just a few years, Aleksander has hit #1 on Beatport in almost every genre. His previous three LPs Protos, Zion, & Invasion dropped over a span of just six months last fall/winter to chart-topping success with iTunes and Bandcamp, and cracked Billboard’s Heatseekers and Dance charts.
Aleksander is planning a run of two or three more Blanco EPs featuring a diverse cast of collaborators following ‘Bajo,’ so keep an eye on this space for more news.
