The basis of the album was to record an imaginary soundtrack to the Shaw Brothers bat shit psychedicrazy Kung Fu horror 'The Boxer's Omen' aka 'MO' or 'Demon'. The story is an everyday one. After a Hong Kong kick boxer is paralysed by a cheating Thai competitor, his mobster brother vows revenge and journeys to Thailand for a duel. Along the way, our hero is met by bizarre visions, entered into a Buddhist monastery, and begins a quest to save the soul of a deceased monk (his twin brother in a past life) who died at the hands of a powerful black magician. We've all been there. However the movie descends into a kind of spiritual Jodorowsky mushroom fest that is completely deranged and is therefore one of those perfect midnight movies. Then, invited back in February at LCM, the band decided to record 2 stand alone pieces, 'Spring Snow' and 'Jetavina Grove' and bring all their space rock elements and psych raga back into the fray. Throw in some super cool Korean vocals courtesy of Bomi Seo of Tirikiliatops and run the guitars through a harmonizer H910 (as used by Visconti on 'Low' an 'Heroes') and it's the perfect swansong to their last 14 years of playing live and recording together. We wrote the songs of the first CD "Fiabe Di Rugiada" (Dew's Fairytales) back in 2006-2007 and each song was naturally infused with a deep sense of longing for a lost world of happiness and innocence. We understood, as time went by, that these songs were not just a collection of precious childhood's memories, but something more. It was like looking at our lives through our children's eyes. A child know how love should be: true, loyal, and constant. Do we know the same now that we are grown up? We played these songs in our 2007-2008 concerts and still we were not ready to record this album, as if we had to better understand the songs, to really dig deep into them. Other very important projects were finalized, and yet "Le Fiabe Dei Ragni Funamboli" was not completely shaped and refined. In Spring 2011 a new small home studio was set up and we finally felt it was time to track down the new album. It was a long process, with many different choices and solutions, and a new deeper sound never obtained before by Albireon but still something was missing, like a last step to reach home. A second album, the "twin" of "Fiabe Di Rugiada", appeared in few weeks in the shape of "Fiabe Di Vento" (Wind's Fairytales). This album solidifies Turman as a cut above the rest with respect to his talent and his natural ear for experimental composition. Turman first came onto the industrial scene in the late '70s as the ominous "other half" of legendary noise outfit NON, alongside BOYD RICE, together releasing the now classic first NON single, 'Mode of Infection' b/w 'Knife Ladder' in 1977. After parting ways, Turman went on an excursion of self-released cassettes to which he fused every possible influence at his disposal, culling together past habits of experimental know-how and going forward into uncharted terrain. This vinyl reissue of 'Way Down' serves as the blueprint of what Turman sought to render as a very accessible minimal synth/industrial album, yet keeping it just obtuse enough to make it one of the most brilliant and engaging albums to be ushered into the canon of '80s experimental culture.
