BLUE BEADS ARE POPULAR
As we say in Norfolk, blue is ‘bootiful’! There’s lots of blue in Norfolk. It’s not by chance we sell more blue beads than others. Everyone loves blue. The sky and the sea is blue when at its best. The colour represents freedom, open space, creativity, inspiration, trust, loyalty, confidence, sincerity and sex. The colour of the spirit, bringing rest and tranquillity – with religious meaning, believed to repel bad spirits.
Blue clothes with jewellery to match is the dress of successes – look at stars and the super-rich. A cooling colour of intuition, confidence and intellect that is said to balance the mind and body. Electric blue is dramatic and exhilaration. Blue portrays importance and confidence. ‘The Boys in Blue’: British police officers, and ‘corporate blue’ pinstripe suits. Representing conservative stability. Royal blue is for respect and superiority. Blue means trust and wisdom.

THE KING’S STONES
- The jewels and semi-precious stones used in the crowning of King Charles III were symbols of power, wealth, and prestige. They were made of rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, pearls, and topaz.
- The jewels and semi-precious stones were also used to represent the unity of the kingdom, as each stone represented a different region or area of the kingdom.
- The jewels and semi-precious stones were also believed to have magical properties, which was thought to protect the king from harm and bring him good luck.
- Finally, the jewels and semi-precious stones were used to signify the divine right of kings, as they were believed to be gifts from God.
BEAD FAIR REPORTS
New Forest Bead Fair
This is always a busy show, and this one was no exception. Southampton Bead Shop and MrBead done well. We love it in the New Forest. I even get excited seeing ponies blocking the road, on the way to the hall at 7am. We’ll be back at Brockenhurst on 10th September.
Welsh Bead Fair
This is our second show at this excellent hall. Out of the way at the end of a narrow lane, but close to Newport, the M4, and both Cardiff and Bristol.
The show was slow to start, but picked up fast – and at the end of the day we done very well with many large orders. From some visitors who travelled 2-hours to us.
Coincidentally, there was a Gem n Bead Fair the same day at Chepstow, just 20-minutes away. However, it made no difference to attendance. In fact, two visitors to us were on there way there – and one customer said they went there first.
2023 BEAD FAIRS
We’re doing less Gem n Bead Fairs, and more of our own single day shows. Most of our own shows are free entry & free refreshments.
They’re also more busy, giving visitors a buzz and chance to share ideas together! If you feel we’re not near you, let me know and I’ll consider your location.
