ANN PATCHETT
State of Wonder
Tuesday, June 14th at 7 PM
Don't miss the award-winning, New York Times bestselling author of Bel Canto and The Magician's Assistant.
Patchett's latest novel is the gripping story of Marina Singh, who is sent to the darkest corner of the Amazon to confront a rogue scientist on the cusp of developing a fertility drug that could rock the medical profession (and reap enormous profits). Marina finds the scientist's camp among the Lakashi, a gentle but enigmatic tribe whose women bear children until the end of their lives - and ends up letting go of everything she had held on to so dearly in her prescribed Midwestern life, in order to find herself.
Thrilling, disturbing and moving in equal measures—even better than Patchett's breakthrough Bel Canto. - Kirkus Reviews

STEWART FLORSHEIM AND DIANE FRANK
Read from Their Recent Work
Thursday, June 16 at 7 PM
Come enjoy a special reading by two wonderful poets.
Florsheim will read from A Split Second of Light - poems about his childhood, growing up and traveling the world, and the imagined lives of the people inside great works of art. His book is quiet and powerful, grounded in the reality of a Jewish family - in the world that was handed down, father to son.
SF award-winning writer Frank will read from Entering the Word Temple, her fifth poetry collection. Her first novel, Blackberries in the Dream House, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Frank, whose poems have been described as jewel-like images on the page, teaches at SFSU and Dominican University in San Rafael.
