John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I AM THE TRUTH

All religions have part of the truth about God? "No," Jesus says, "I AM the Truth." He is true in His very being. This can only be said of God Himself. Jesus is LORD God, the eternal I AM.

There is no knowing God apart from Jesus Christ. All other "gods" are not truth but lies. And this is true not only for those inventions which men call gods, it is the tragic truth about all other substitutes for God, all other things which people make the focus, center or heart of their lives -- whether money, position, power, love or family -- these too are false gods -- gods that kill.

Each are gifts of God, but they are not God the Giver. Faith that leans on them will go down in destruction. Like leaning on a hollow reed instead of a cane, or a railing that is not fastened to anything. The harder you lean, the harder you fall. People lean on all sorts of things other than the one true God, making a lie the great "truth", the focus of their lives. And the results are certain to be destruction -- and without repentance, eternal destruction.

You know what happened when Peter put his confidence in his own strength; when Pilate did what best served his own situation; when Judas let his love of money determine his actions; when Caiphas determined that anything was better than loss of power and position.

The Psalmist writes, "In my dismay I said, 'All men are liars'" (Psalm 116:11).

But John the Apostle writes in his first letter: "We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true -- even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life" (1 John 5:20).

Don't you believe a lie. Put your trust, your confidence, lean your heart on the One who said: "I AM the Truth."
