LINDSAY HATTON
Monterey Bay
Thursday, August 4 at 7 PM
If you are a fan of John Steinbeck's Cannery Row stories, you will not want to miss this event! Lindsay Hatton will read from her novel that takes place in Monterey in 1940. According to Publishers Weekly, Hatton "does an excellent job of recreating the Cannery Row that no longer exists."
Fifteen-year-old Margot Fiske arrives in Monterey Bay with her eccentric father. Margot has been her father's apprentice all over the world, until an accident in the Monterey Bay tide pools drives them apart. Margot enters the mayhem of Cannery Row, where Steinbeck is hiding out from his growing fame at the raucous lab of Ed Ricketts, the biologist known as Doc in Steinbeck's Cannery Row. Ricketts quickly becomes the object of Margot's fascination.
