It's Fall, y'all!! Bring on the crisp days, hot apple cider, corn mazes, and most importantly those cozy knit/crochet projects to curl up with, it's no surprise this is our favorite time of the year.
This month in the shop we will be celebrating Socktober with a sock-themed KAL/CAL and daily sock inspiration on our social media. We also have a trunk show with Stephanie of Deep Dyed Yarns happening to help you plan your cold weather projects.

Introducing Seis Cabos, the newest addition to the Malabrigo family. It is a non superwash pure Super Fine Merino Wool, containing 6 plies with a high twist that gives the yarn ample structure and flexibility. Seis Cabos is an incredibly versatile yarn that has great strength due to its ply construction.
The 6 ply construction creates a very round yarn which shows off textured stitches and cables nicely while maintaining the Malabrigo Merino softness. This same construction means that your garments and projects will stand the test of time. It is a light worsted with 220yds/100g so it's perfect for some of our favorite patterns such as the Quynn Hat, the Miss Marple Scarf, the Jacques Cousteau Hat, the Mailin Sweater, and the Divine Hat. |
In addition to a new yarn from Malabrigo, they have also released a new color in collaboration with designer Lisa Hannes- Old Rose. Old Rose is a beautiful antique pink available in five of their bases- Rios, Ultimate Sock, Mechita, Mohair, and Arroyo. Lisa Hannes' Old Rose Collection features three beautiful new designs: the Old Rose Wrap, Old Rose Hat, and Old Rose Socks. Each design thoughtfully designed with the new color in mind, highlighting the depth and texture of the colorway. |
The October Crazy Beautiful Color of the month from Emma's Yarns is a cheerful treat. Berry pinks and bits of peachy orange are setting the tone for the sweetest October yet!
As usual, the color plays well with a huge variety of coordinating colors! Pictured here (top to bottom) with Cally Girl, Don't Call Me Peaches, Poppin’, Cactus Flower, Very Berry, Heavy Pour, Nightshade, and Lady Lavender.

We are so excited to be hosting a variety of yarns all dyed by Stephanie of Deep Dyed Yarns. For those of you not familiar with her yarns, Stephanie is known for her beautiful saturated colorways, dyed right up the street in Nicholasville, Ky. Her colors are the perfect companion for your cozy fall projects. You have probably seen her Good Juju and Figment yarns in the shop, but this is your chance to see even more- more colors, more yarn types, more of everything!!
Need some inspiration? Stephanie will also bring a variety of samples using each yarn line to help you find the perfect project to accompany your new favorite yarn.
The trunk show goes from October 25-27 during shop hours. Trust us, you are not going to want to miss it. See you there!!

The name of the designer’s company says it all: Tiny Nonsense! And who doesn’t need a little more nonsense in their life? Knit it using dpn’s, Flexi Flips, or magic loop, and fingering weight yarn, and the resulting hat can be used for a Halloween decoration, a gnome hat, or just a fun surprise to leave on your co-worker’s desk. Once you start, you won't be able to stop making these tiny witches' hats that you will want to leave everywhere.

Beginning Socks
Do socks intimidate you? When you hear the phrase: "turn a heel" does your blood run cold? Well, Susan is here to take the scariness out of your first pair of socks. In this class, you will be using Rye Worsted, a Tin Can Knits beginning sock pattern (free on Ravelry), with worsted weight yarn that is knit at a tight gauge (22st/4 inches). OR, if you want to knit your socks on fingering weight yarn, Susan will help you knit Rye Sock. We love this pattern because it has great diagrams and tutorials that really help a first time sock knitter move from newbie to expert in no time! With Susan's help, you're gonna have the snazziest looking feet in Lexington. Never fear socks again!
Note: Double points are used for this particular pattern to help illustrate sock construction.
