Psalm 105:1 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

A LIFE OF THANKSGIVING

Those of us living in the United States celebrated a national day of thanksgiving yesterday. There were special parades and sporting events. Many did not have to go to work. The tables were filled with food and we Christians remembered with humble and grateful hearts our God from whom every good and perfect gift comes.

But what are you going to do with that food today? Now that the table is cleared, the leftovers are in the freezer, and the last piece of pie has been eaten, are you going to put those blessings to good use?

How about using the energy you received from your thanksgiving meal to give thanks to the LORD -- with your whole life! How about using those calories to walk in His ways, to speak His praises to others, and to reach out to those who need your loving support. Consider how Jesus Christ spent His energy on you. He used the nourishment He received from the meals He ate with His disciples to move closer and closer to the cross where the very last of His strength would be spent in offering Himself for the benefit of the whole world.

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
