Digital Imaging Group
This month's DI Group meeting has been put back by a week owing to ongoing works at the clubrooms. The next meeting will now be on Monday 20 July at 7.30pm. As usual all members are welcome, especially if they bring along images (either printed or projected) for discussion, advice or just to show off.

Print Group
The Print Group quarterly meeting, run by Pete McCloskey and Graham Reeves will now be held on Monday 27 July. As with the DI Group meeting, it has been put back a week due to necessary work to be carried out on the new clubrooms. The group is open to all members, but its aim is to give advice and prepare members ahead of applying for the photographic distinctions of the RPS and PAGB.
If you'd like further information, please email Pete at pmccloskey11@btinternet.com, and I'm sure he'll be pleased to help

AGM
At last week's AGM several members claimed that they had not received the agenda and other paperwork for the AGM, in particular the financial report. These were sent to all members attached to issue 144 (17 June) of the newsletter, I have attached another copy of these for those who didn't read their newsletter properly. In future I plan to ask questions to randomly selected members just to check that my words of wisdom haven't gone unread!

Studio Group Competition
The highlight of the year, the AGM, was somewhat eclipsed by the fun of the Studio Competition which occupied the second half of the evening last Wednesday. It took the form of a knockout competition, with images being projected in pairs and the audience voting on which one they preferred. This process was repeated until only three images were left, at which point the audience voted for their favourite image of the three, the winner being the one with the highest number of votes. The results were as follows:
1st - Shadow Writing by Ann Mead
2nd - Circus by Keith Wood
3rd - Good to Talk by Kathryn Armitstead

Shadow Writing                                Circus                                 Good to Talk

Warwick 2015
On Saturday a dozen or so members travelled to Warwick to support the club at the PAGB Interclub PDI Competition 2015. Sadly, BPS didn't come away with any gongs but we did acquit ourselves pretty well amongst such august company. There were 38 clubs in the competition, which was in two rounds with the top 8 clubs going through to Round 2 to fight for the accolade of The Champion Club. We came 11th in the first round which meant that we were amongst the remaining clubs which competed for the Plate Competition where we came equal 7th. The winning clubs were:
The Champion Club
1st - Wigan 10
2nd - Inn Focus
3rd - Arden Group

The Plate Competition
1st - Chorley
2nd - Tamworth
3rd= - Northallerton and Dundee

Unit 13 - Update
Work is now well advanced in installing the new studio lighting system. The suspended ceiling in the studio area has been removed to allow for the installation of the main support metalwork above which will support the lighting rig below the ceiling. As can be seen from the picture below of yours truly wielding a spanner, there is quite a "spaghetti work" of pipes, tubes and wires above the ceiling through which the new system had to be threaded. Hopefully all the work will be completed by Tuesday after which we will have a clubroooms which is second to none and will be the only club in the country with such a professional studio set up.

Exhibition to Visit
There is an exhibition of traditional photography by James Ravilious at the RWA until 20th Sept. Details from this link to the exhibition, with more information on his work here.

Many thanks to Nicky Williams and Dave Lawlan for letting me know about this one.

The club has a quantity of Fotospeed paper for sale that was received as payment for Salon catalogue advertising. It is Fotospeed PF Lustre A3 size 275 gram in boxes of 50 sheets.  We are asking £35 per box, which is a reduction of 12.5 % from list price.  Would anyone interested please contact Keith Wood or Pete Howell.
