Greetings dear friends,

I’m writing this at 33,000 feet above the eastern coast of Newfoundland and I will hit SEND as soon as I find a WiFi hotspot when we land in Dubai.

After months of preparing – and another 10 weeks of waiting – it’s hard to believe we’re finally on our way.  There were times when each of us thought this day might never come.  But deep down we’ve believed all along that we are on this journey for a reason and are excited to see what God has in store for us in Afghanistan.

We should get a good night’s rest in Dubai tonight before the final leg of our journey tomorrow.  I’ll drop another note tomorrow night when we’re safely on the ground in Kabul.

As I've said before, I’ll try to send an update every day, but please don’t worry if you don’t hear from me for a day or two (or three) – it doesn’t mean anything bad has happened!  Electricity and Internet service are easily interrupted and getting updates out regularly can be a challenge.

Because of the realities of life in Afghanistan my updates may be vague about specific activities, identities, and locations.  As always, we look forward to seeing you all in person after our return and sharing stories in more detail about the ongoing restoration and development work over there.

I’ll try to write again as soon as we're safely on the ground in Kabul.

Thank you for your never ending prayers and good thoughts!
