    LEARN ABOUT SNAKES & SPIDERS

Local residents are invited to learn more about snakes and spiders at two free safety awareness seminars being held during April.

The seminars provide attendees with practical information about preventing bites from venomous snakes and spiders.

The seminars will cover awareness measures, first aid treatment for snake and spider bites and emergency response procedures.

David Lowery from the Coastal Environment Centre said snake experts Jackie and Craig Adams from SSSAFE would host the seminars.

“Craig and Jackie are leading advisors on snake safety, with Craig a snake expert and former Operations Manager for the Australia Reptile Park,” he said.

“Residents will spend some time learning how to identify different species of snakes and spiders as well their habitat and behaviours.”

General Manager Mark Ferguson said the awareness program had already proved popular with Council staff recently.

“Many of our field staff can come into contact with snakes or spiders in their day-to-day work and needed training to know what to do,” he said.

“We’re now offering similar sessions for residents.”

The public seminars will run on two dates in April.  Residents can choose a session on either Thursday 3 April from 7pm to 9pm or on Saturday 12 April, from 1pm to 3pm.

The seminars are free; however bookings are required due to limited spaces available.

To book call 1300 000 232, or register at: www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/cecbookings

    Australia's Largest Selling Wine Syndicate

All the Wine that's fit to Drink :)
The tasting notes and price list for our next tasting has now arrived and there are some beaut examples of great Australian wine. As our local syndicate leader said in a recent email, 'Quality for 2013 whites in Australia  and 2012 reds is exceptional'

    A reminder of the details:

    SUNDAY, March 16th from 3pm

    Where:
The lovely home of Rachel Carter, on the south side of Scotland Island.

Rachel's jetty is only accessible on mid-high tide and as the tide is LOW the afternoon of the tasting, may not be accessible. Otherwise there is a buoy that people can tie up to and wade in.

Actual address is 21 Richard Road. Rachel is next door to Annabel and Branco (bright blue house) – one closer to Carols. They are 4 jetties in from Bill’s Bay (towards Carols).

If you are new to our totally not-for-profit wine syndicate it is lots of fun. Not only a chance to have a taste of fine wines but also the opportunity to meet your neighbours. Bring a plate of something to share, a tasting glass and a copy of the tasting notes and wine list.

    See you on the day.
Date: Sunday March 16th from 3pm till 5pm

    Wharf Sale Results

Jude and I would like to thank everyone that contributed to our recent wharf sale.

$700 dollars was raised in the process and we are happy that this will provide the following support.

Blue Dragon have made many rescue trips into China to find and return Vietnamese girls who have been trafficked to work in the sex trade. Following their return to Vietnam the money from our wharf sale will help provide these girls with vocational training and at the same time provide a big boost to their self esteem and their futures.

    How good is that !

    Thanks
Ian & Judy James, Elvina Bay
