Dear MACRO members,
It's time to welcome all of you to another year of teaching, welcome all new members of MACRO, and to once again remind you of everything MACRO has to offer:
Our Musician's Workshop for 2010 promises to be a real treat! Please mark your calendars for June 18-19, 2010. As always, the workshop will start at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, and end at noon on Saturday. Come join us! Mark your calendars today. It's never too early to start thinking about possible presentation and poster session ideas! To spark your interest, we can announce a few special sessions already in the program for next summer. If you attend the workshop, you will learn how to incorporate macro analysis with a variety of different music theory textbooks and approaches, have a chance to explore several exciting new technology and teaching ideas you can use in your own classroom, and you will have the opportunity to see what happens when several macro members combine rock and roll, rap, and macro analysis and show you how to do the same in your classroom! We encourage proposals on all subjects, but this is the year of Schumann and Chopin, so we're looking for what we'd like to call "Fred and Bob" presentations as well.
Check out our 2010 Truman State University/MACRO Composers competition. Contest guidelines for this year's competition are posted on our web site. Previous winners have really enjoyed the range of opportunities presented in this competition so apply now!
